The Painting Center is pleased to present a poetry reading with Sheila Lanham and Jeffrey Cyphers Wright. The Reading follows a Panel Discussion: The Collage Aesthetic in Painting 6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.
Sheila Lanham is a poet and an artist. She was born in Baltimore and was an early member of the Maryland Writers Council in the 1970s. She later studied with Gilbert Sorrentino at the New School. She holds a BFA in Painting. She was co-editor of The Pearl, a Baltimore Literary Journal 1976-80. Her poems have been published in A Gathering of Voices, An Anthology of Baltimore Poets, Dolphin Moon Press, Baltimore Blues and Greens, a chapbook and various ezines, including Exquisite Corpse.
Jeffrey Cyphers Wright is a poet, publisher, critic and eco-activist. He studied with Ted Berrigan, Alice Notley and Allen Ginsberg and has an MFA in poetry. From 1986 until 2001 he published Cover Magazine. His poems have appeared in numerous journals and six anthologies. He is the author of ten books, the latest being The Name Poems from Sisyphus Press. He is the new editor of Van Gogh’s Ear.
