Clifford Thompson

Artist Statment

I admire the work of the Fauve group of artists of the early 20th century, and in my own work I feel inspired by their paintings’ bold colors and relatively simple, representational forms. At the same time, I feel that at their best, my paintings can convey a mood – of tranquility, or wonder, or wistfulness.
