Fred McCarthy lives and works in Brooklyn, NY. He holds an MFA from Parsons School of Design and has exhibited in one person shows at Prince Street Gallery in New York City. His work has been included in a number of group shows as well, most recently at Lori Bookstein Fine Art in New York City, and The Fly Wheel Gallery in Piermont, NY.
McCarthy’s abstract paintings evolve out of the idea of the grid as an underlying framework on which to build rhythmic movements of color and gesture. Opposing concepts of order and randomness, control and spontaneity are central to their creation.
