Artist Statement
It is my reaction to nature that moves me to paint.

I paint in Vermont because its natural beauty is always inspiring.

It has a blazing beauty that often takes your breath away.

There is radiance to the landscape, purity to its light, and magic in its color that I try to capture in my paintings.

I begin each painting without a preconceived image but will inevitably end up in a place I have experienced. Often it is a detail of the place - branches on a tree, a corner of my garden, the undergrowth in a lake.

I want my painting to be a respite from the chaos of the world - like Vermont.
