Philip Ayers

Philip Ayers studied painting, printmaking, and film at Massachusetts College of Art and Design in Boston in the early 1970s where he earned his BFA. He holds also an MFA from Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey. A selected list of solo and group exhibits include the Queens Museum of Art, Queens, NY, the Chrysler Museum of Art, the Indianapolis Museum of Art, Indianapolis; the New Jersey State Museum of Art, Newport Museum in Newport, Rhode Island, Indiana University Art Museum, Bloomington; Florida International University Art Museum, Miami, Fl.; Koplin Gallery, Los Angeles, Ca., Forum Gallery, New York; Semaphore Gallery, New York, Ruth Segal Gallery, New York, The Brodsky Galley of the Educational Testing Service, Princeton, NJ. Grants and Fellowship awards include three Artists Fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts, all in painting, The Pollack-Krasner Foundation, three Individual Artists Fellowships from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts. Collections include the Chase Manhattan Bank collection, New York; the Chrysler Museum of Art, Norfolk, Va.; the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, many private collections nationally. Publications include, Arts Magazine, Art Forum, The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, The Newark Star Ledger, Los Angeles Art Scene.
