Harriet Finck: Life Forms

The Painting Center is pleased to present an exhibition of recent work by Harriet Finck, called Life Forms. Long interested in the similarities of growth patterns in starry skies and cellular life, and using the creation story in the book of Genesis as a touchstone, Finck looks in this series at the evolution of biological forms after the initial mineral burst of light. And, after a decades long romance with paper, she has turned to canvas as a “new” material. An architect for many years, Finck eventually become a full time painter, a result of having studied early on with Flora Natapoff, a professor of art at Harvard. She received a BA in art history from Barnard College, and an MArch from Harvard University. Finck’s most recent solo exhibits have been at Johnson and Johnson headquarters in New Brunswick, NJ and at the SHE Gallery in Boonton, NJ. A recent group show has been “The New Scroll” at the Hamilton Gallery, in Bound Brook, NJ. Finck’s work is in private collections and in the collection of Pfizer Pharmaceuticals.
