Ines Sun: When the Wind Blows…
Exhibition Dates: November 1 - 26, 2022
Reception: Thursday, November 3, 5pM - 8pm
Ines Sun’s new installation When the Wind Blows… will be on view in The Project Room at The Painting Center from November 1, 2022 through November 26, 2022. The opening reception will take place Thursday, November 3, 2022 from 5 - 8 pm and is open to the public.
Installation artist, Ines Sun, is known for creating ephemeral spaces and evoking sensory experiences. When the Wind Blows… continues this theme as the room will be surrounded by multiple 70”- 95” (length) x 17 (width)” long strips of lotus garden paintings. Viewers can get close up and intimate with the lotus as they feel the breeze lightly touch their skin. Raw silk panels will hang to form an oval meditative space in the middle of the room for pausing, resting, and contemplating.
Ines Sun was born in Taipei, Taiwan and has spent most of her adulthood in NYC. She creates her work from a strong Chinese cultural tradition. Sun stands at the crossroad of East and West with ease, and her work embodies spontaneity, confidence, and translucency.
As a special event for this exhibition, Molly Herman and Ines Sun (Project room) will hold a “Tea and Art Talk“ hosted by TÉ Company on November 19th from 2 - 4 pm. ($20 per person, book your seat via: www.pencilnyc.com)
