CURATORIAL OPPORTUNITIES

The Painting Center proudly announces a new opportunity for curators to submit proposals for curated exhibitions. With a rich history of showcasing significant works from both the past and present, our space is dedicated to presenting contemporary thesis exhibitions on visual arts, artists, and art making practices. If you are a curator looking to exhibit thought provoking and innovative works, we invite you to submit your proposal and be a part of our esteemed gallery. Curators use our space for innovative exhibitions displaying the work of diverse artists and receiving support in the art community for The Painting Center that is recognized as offering an alternative voice. Exhibitions are often reviewed and have visibility in the Chelsea art scene. These exhibitions also provide educational tools for students and the public, therefore we encourage artists and curators to use our space to examine unique ideas about painting and other various media. Proposed exhibitions must include a minimum of four artists. To submit to our curatorial program, create a formal proposal with a written thesis statement. Please include at least two images and biographies from each artist as a pdf. Also, indicate whether the exhibition will be funded by a grant or funded by contributions from the artists. The gallery does not provide funding for curated exhibitions, but we can offer support and resources for locating funding for accepted exhibitions. For more information about exhibition proposals, send an email to director@thepaintingcenter.org.
