The Painting Center is pleased to present From the Inside Out, the work of Lisa Petker Mintz in the Main Gallery and Project Room.

Lisa Petker Mintz will be showing a series of works created during the pandemic. As the world came to a crashing halt, she found solace in daily walks. These daily walks forced her to slow down and to take in the subtle nuances and changes in the light as the seasons changed. Her observations of shadows on the pavement led her to a new series of paintings. This latest work is vibrant and energetic, with surfaces brimming with texture and color. Petker Mintz’s fluidly painted brushstrokes dance across the surface in a calligraphic manner and her addition of collage elements to her canvases create a surface that appears three dimensional. Her work is studied, nuanced, layers within layers of structure, line and silhouettes revealing a new inner landscape.

Petker Mintz graduated from Parsons School of Design in 1987, and has shown extensively throughout the East Coast. Most recently she was included in the Heckscher Biennial in Huntington, NY, and previously at the Islip Art Museum Exhibition in Islip NY, “Print Up” with notable artists such as Lisa Yuskagave, Helen Frankenthaler, and Elizabeth Murray. Petker Mintz was also included in two Denise Bibro’s “Art from the Boros” Exhibitions Chelsea, NY. She has also shown at George Billis Gallery in Chelsea, NY. Her work was on a projected mural on a 4 story building as part of a downtown arts initiative in Patchogue, NY.
