Ellen Starr Lyon
Lyon is a figurative painter focusing on modern portraiture that revolves around feminism, motherhood, and coming of age. She has work in the permanent collection of the Evansville Museum, UC Irvine, Indiana University, the Igleheart Foundation, and has been invited to the Pouch Cove Artist Residency in July of 2024.
“My painting style uses a colorful palette and multiple thin, luminous layers to capture my models in natural light. I use my own photography to catch unguarded glimpses of emotion on the faces of those around me. I champion vulnerability as strength while promoting it as our common language.”
