Margaret Tsirantonakis was born in Crete, Greece, raised in Queens, NY and lives and works in Stamford, CT. In 2023 she had her fourth solo exhibition at Prince Street Gallery in NYC. She has been in numerous group shows. Her work is in private collections in the United States, Europe and Japan.
"Color continues to be of prime importance to my instinctive painting process. I like to employ a wet layer over a dry one with rapid brushstrokes to bring a depth of vibrant layers of color. Negative spaces are as important as positive ones. Inspirations include the cycles of nature, and ancestral trips to Crete."
