MELANIE PANKAU
Pankau received her BFA from MCAD, MFA from U of WI, Milwaukee, and studied at the Bauhaus Universtät. She has attended several artist residencies: Vermont Studio Center, Ragdale Foundation, VCCA. Pankau was awarded a Chicago CAAP Grant and MSAB Artist Initiative Grant. Her work is represented by McCormick Gallery, Chicago.
“My paintings are guided by my daily meditation practice followed by a process of automatic drawing where the geometric forms in my work unfold. I have studied a variety of meditation traditions and techniques, and integrate this parallel practice into my paintings with the intention to reveal a contemplative consciousness.”
