Jane Foley Ferraro grew up in Michigan where her journey of art making began at the age of eighteen with her first camera. She found joy in looking through the viewfinder, composing a world, then seeing that world come to life in the darkroom. Photography led her into exploring other media including collage, mono-printing, manipulated Polaroid photography and painting, which has become her primary focus. Jane has exhibited her award-winning work in regional and national juried exhibitions since 1994 and is in private, corporate and university collections. While maintaining a psychotherapy practice, Jane Foley Ferraro continued to create her own art and encouraged her clients to use art as a means of self-expression. Currently, Jane paints daily in her home studios located in East Aurora, NY and Naples, FL and is represented by Meibohm Fine Arts, East Aurora, NY and Fine Line Designs Gallery, Ephraim(Door County), WI.

My Interest in art began at the age of eighteen with photography. I have advanced my creative practice through workshops, university courses, private mentoring and self-study. As a psychotherapist I encouraged expression through art. Since retiring I am in my studio full-time. I admire the Impressionists and Abstract Expressionists. My influences include, but are not limited to, Monet, O’Keeffe, Turner, Inness, Rothko, Frankenthaler and Jane Wilson. Working in oil and cold wax as well as acrylic I relish the happy accidents which are always such an inspiration to me.
