“Layering and revealing what is underneath is the basis of this new direction in my painting. This is in line with what I have always sought, the subconscious manifesting itself in the conscious execution of my work. Striping gradually evolved as a device to create a surface layer that must be penetrated to find the hidden core, the third dimension in a two-dimensional work.”
