A graduate of Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California, Janet Pedersen makes her home in Brooklyn NY. She is an award winning artist exhibiting widely. Recently, several of her dance-themed paintings were chosen to be part of the State Department's 'Art in Embassies' program, celebrating the universal joy and borderless beauty of dance. The exhibition will be on loan for three years at the Residency of the U.S. Ambassador to Poland, Mark Brzekinski.
“My recent figurative works on paper feature subway riders, dancers, walkers, and diners. I am exploring the figure within a background or backdrop. The relationship of the figure to this backdrop is my attempt to abstract the figure and find that unique dialogue and dynamic of the figure in relationship to architecture or largely made up backgrounds.”
