Marilyn Mitchell
Marilyn Mitchell was born in Queens, NY. She attended SUNY New Paltz as a Fine Art major and graduated from SUNY Stony Brook with a major in Nursing. She has exhibited in Paris, France, Illinois, Boston, CA & NY. She is a Certified Black Belt Nia Technique dance instructor.
“My work is concerned with how our society is reflected in the media – whether in print or online. After moving to the Hudson Valley these works became my idea of a contemporary landscape. I sew disparate images together to both stimulate unexpected combinations and to reference female ancestors and quilts.”
