Sharon Lacey (b. 1975 in Charleston, South Carolina) is a figurative painter based in Boston, Massachusetts. She studied painting at the New York Academy of Art, and art history at University of London, School of Advanced Study. She currently teaches drawing and painting at MIT and Boston College.
“I look for images that feel familiar—like they have lived in humanity a long time, yet endure because our emotional palette remains unchanged. In recent works, I tap into my experiences growing up on a tree farm in rural South Carolina to explore relationships to land, history, and family mythologies.”
