Celia Johnson
Celia Johnson works in acrylic, collage, and encaustic. She holds degrees from CCA SF/Oakland and NYU, and attended the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf. Johnson has taught at MICA Baltimore and has won fellowships to VCCA, Vermont Studio Center and the Golden Foundation. She is represented by Markel Fine Arts, NYC.
“My works are puzzles to be solved, grounded in the play of color and form, and manifested as non-objective geometric abstraction. Figure/ground relationships explore the push-pull of shapes within the edges of the rectangle where I mine the dual role color plays as both content and structure.”
