Sunny Chapman
Sunny Chapman is an artist living in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, and the Catskills. Her studio work has been shown in galleries and museums largely in the Northeast, most recently in the project room at Equity Gallery, NY, NY and New Bedford Art Museum, New Bedford, MA.
My artwork is deeply influenced by mystical practices like Sufism and Alchemy. The themes that emerge from these practices include otherworldly landscapes, doorways as portals to other universes, mysterious languages, and circles that symbolize the whirling of the dervish and the universe
My current work is largely made on biomorphic shapes I cut from plywood in a variety of colorways, sometimes embellished with objects I find on my walks. I work in watercolor as well.
