JO ANN ROTHSCHILD
"Jo Ann Rothschild has had an enduring impact on contemporary painting since her recognition in 1993 as the first recipient of the Boston's Museum of Fine Arts' Maud Morgan Prize. In 2024, The National Gallery of Art exhibited their acquisition of Mom's Yahrzeit (2021) in their collection of American abstractionists.
“My practice is open ended. I respond to each mark in the moment. My painting is about painting. Etchings are about etching. Because contemporary events affect the work, pieces are often named for the date finished.”
