Ellen Hallie Schiff
I began my art making in midlife. Once I had my children, a need to express myself creatively roared out of me in the form of painting. I took classes in painting and gradually evolved to relate very much to Abstract Expressionism. Now I have been painting for 20 years and teach Abstract Painting.
“My mark-making and its physicality is an important part of my process. I am energized by the sense of discovery and exploration of the paint itself- how colors meet and converse; how textures form over other marks; how wiping away and making new marks creates a new entity that is arrived at.”
