Michael Van Winkle
Michael lives and has a studio in Mechanicville, NY. He earned his BFA with a concentration in Painting and Drawing from Alfred University in 2004 and his MFA in 2008 from SUNY Albany. Michael is currently a Visiting Assistant Professor of Painting and Drawing at Skidmore College.
”In my paintings cartoon-like figures interact and engage benignly with the constraints of their surroundings. I explore how the physical world influences our internal states as we cross from moment to moment and sensation to sensation. The figures in my paintings are meditations on this connection and our shifting relationships.”
